Arizona ranked only second to Nevada in population growth, with an estimated 5.1 million people. Tucson's business growth and competitive edge has came from many sources; one being the close proximity to Mexico. Tucson being a great choice for companies importing back and forth across the US Mexico border. Raytheon Missile Systems employs an approximate 11,000 people, and Davis-Monthan Air Force Base with an estimated 6,000 military and 1,700 civilian employees.
