C&W | PICOR Honored at Tucson’s First Top Workplaces Celebration

On December 12th, 2023, Tucson Media Partners and Energage held Tucson’s first annual Top Workplaces Celebration at Savoy Opera House, honoring twelve local businesses, including Cushman & Wakefield | PICOR.

Top Workplaces is driven by anonymous employee feedback through the Energage Workplace Survey, a leading employer recognition program. Its goal is to identify and commend workplaces with high employee engagement, talent retention, and a positive impact on business outcomes. The survey, shaped by industry benchmarks gathered from millions of employee responses over 17 years nationwide, gauges employee engagement.

In addition to receiving the Top Workplace award, C&W | PICOR was also awarded the “2023 Direction Award”. Special awards are based on exceptionally high responses to a specific statement, and the Direction Award is based on scores in response to the question “I believe this company is going in the right direction.”

C&W | PICOR employees describe the company as having a strong sense of collaboration and support, fostering an uplifting and family-like environment where employees feel valued and appreciated. Employees praise the company’s longstanding commitment to giving back to the Tucson community, which can be seen through their fundraising events, such as their annual Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser, where 100% of the proceeds go to youth programs in Southern Arizona. With employees expressing loyalty and enthusiasm even after decades of service, PICOR’s inclusive and encouraging atmosphere contributes to a diverse, vibrant workspace where personal and professional growth is valued.

“I couldn’t be prouder to show up every day working to honor both our founder’s vision and our employee’s expectations. Recognition like this is owned by all 63 of our team members because they live our values and create the fabric that is C&W | PICOR. Those of us in leadership don’t take this lightly and thank our company family for demanding the kind of workplace where they can bring their best selves and thrive”, says Barbi Reuter, CEO of C&W | PICOR.

“Earning a Top Workplaces award is a badge of honor for companies, especially because it comes authentically from their employees,” said Eric Rubino, Energage CEO. “That’s something to be proud of. In today’s market, leaders must ensure they allow employees to have a voice and be heard. That’s paramount. Top Workplaces do this, and it pays dividends.”

Other companies that received Tucson’s first Top Workplace award include Snell & Wilmer LLP, Catalina In-Home Services, St. Michael’s School, Harmony Hospice, Marsh McLennan Agency, SOLON Corporation, HealthStar Home Health, Inc., Bridge Investment Group, United Way of Tucson and Southern Arizona, Climatec, and Roche Tissue Diagnostics.

Perspectives from the Team: in Their Own Words

“I started my career at a competing brokerage firm and was astonished when I moved here in the mid-1990’s at the culture.  The sharing of information, friendliness, and quality of the support we receive is not apparent from the outside, but a pleasure to enjoy in our work environment.”

– Steve Cohen, Industrial Broker

“I have worked for PICOR for a little over five years, and from the very first day, I have always felt appreciated, supported, and respected. Because of this, I look forward to working every day, and I feel well-equipped to handle any new challenges that come my way.”

-Tara Kernen, Broker Assistant

“I’ve been at PICOR for 38 years. Since day one, the drive to be productive and work hard on your client’s behalf has been very strong. Mike Hammond set the bar very high, right from the beginning. The culture of collaboration and support amongst the company employees, brokers, and property managers is extraordinary. This helps in pursuing your objectives every day while minimizing distractions.

I’ve always been proud of our company’s pursuit to be involved in our Tucson community, to lead when possible, and to contribute where needed.

I have so loved working at PICOR and am so proud of all that has been accomplished and all that will be accomplished. Bravo, Bravo, Bravo!!!”

-Rob Glaser, Industrial Broker

“PICOR welcomes diversity and embraces one’s creativity in the multitude of ways of achieving goals.  I can truly be myself at my workplace!”

– Mary Lou Lara, Property Manager

“I am in Year 24 of working at Cushman and Wakefield | PICOR.  There’s a reason for that!  Cushman and Wakefield | PICOR is a family and I have shown more times than I can count, that the Shareholders value me as a person, employee, woman, and mother.  I’m treated as an equal, not just a number.  I’m given respect and have been encouraged to better myself.  I am truly blessed to have walked through the Cushman and Wakefield | PICOR doors for an interview so many years ago and will remain working here until the day I retire!”

– Angie Benedict, Property Management Accounting

“Our work culture at PICOR is defined by the genuine care our team has for their co-workers’ success. Having been with PICOR for 26 years, what keeps me excited to come to work every day is the consistently positive attitude of the people here. PICOR’s commitment to giving back to the community is seen through our Charitable foundation, making an impact with events like the Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser, where all costs are covered by PICOR, ensuring 100% of the money goes directly to those in need. Reflecting on some of my favorite memories, people like Peter Douglas, Russ Hall, and Ron Zimmerman, who were larger than life, will always be a cherished part of PICOR and deeply missed.”

-Greg Furrier, Retail Broker

“Our work culture at PICOR is built on the foundation of team and family. With 29 ½ years at PICOR, what continues to fuel my excitement to come to work every day is the incredible people I have the privilege to work with. Some of my fondest memories revolve around the camaraderie at events like our holiday parties, the annual white elephant event, the annual PICOR Thanksgiving potluck, and all the other enjoyable events that are year-round. These moments contribute to a vibrant workplace and highlight the strong sense of community at PICOR.”
